Intra-Asian Submarine Project Awarded To NEC

Japan's NEC Corporation has won a multi-billion dollar turnkey contract with PT Fangbian Iskan Corporindo (FIC) and Telemedia Pacific Inc (TPI) to supply a new 4,300km-long intra-Asian Submarine Cable Asia Network (SCAN) system. Under the terms of the agreement, the vendor will provide a direct cable connection from Indonesia's two largest cities, the capital Jakarta and second largest city, Surabaya, to Hong Kong.
