According to TeleGeography Dutch mobile market leader KPN has announced that it will cease providing customers with free mobile handsets for taking out prepaid packages. Marco Visser, the company's CEO, reportedly told newspaper AD that a lot of customers take out a three-month prepaid contract just to get the handset. Instead, the operator intends to charge customers EUR70-80 (US$97-112) for a handset.
