Philippines Gets Its First WiMAX Network

Filipino telecoms service provider Globe Telecom has become the first in the country to provide a national WiMAX network. Further to this, the operator announced the commercial deployment of a WiMAX service. Initially offering services in selected areas of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, Globe Telecom subscribers will be charged PHP795 (US$16.56) per month to access wireless internet speeds of 512Kbps.
