Telefonica O2 Germany plans to focus on growing its nascent IPTV service in 2011, making it progressively available to its substantial xDSL subscriber base. Central to this strategy will be broadening the content available on the service and introducing a hybrid set-top box. As IPTV services across Europe face increasing challenges from streamed video offerings, so IPTV service providers need to offer more personalised content delivery. This strategy needs to embrace the connected home concept.
