Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has been contracted to upgrade the rural network of SFR, France's second-largest mobile operator. The network will be shared with its rivals as part of a broader cost-reduction scheme. BMI welcomes this development, not just because of the prospects of improved mobile broadband coverage, but also because we have long pointed to infrastructure sharing as a means of accelerating rollout to underserved markets.
