Japan's two largest mobile network operators, NTT DoCoMo and KDDI, have submitted presentations to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) outlining their plans to develop a nationwide next-generation mobile TV service. A single licence is to be issued in the near future, standardising and formalising the format of the service for the benefit of device manufacturers and content providers. BMI fully expects the latest generation of the indigenously developed ISDB-T will find favour, placing NTT DoCoMo as the clear winner.
