Row Between Ministry And Regulator Over NP And Tariffs

A row has blown up between the Costa Rican telecoms regulator, Sutel, and the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications (Minaet). Sutel accused the ministry of 'overrunning its bounds' over regulatory issues, specifically tariffs and number portability (NP). Minaet published rules for differentiated tariffs for services and regulation of NP in the official Gaceta on March 9 and 10.
