India Sees Direct Link Between Broadband And Economic Growth

India's state-owned telecoms operator, BSNL, has partnered telecoms equipment provider HCL Infosystems to bring greater broadband access to rural parts of the country. The two companies are participating in the National Broadband Penetration Program (NBPP), which will receive government funding from the Universal Services Obligation Fund (USOF), controlled by the Department of Telecommunications, to subsidise the next million PCs and broadband connections in remote areas.
