Public hearings have been scheduled for October 2009 on the issue of mobile interconnection fees, reports Reuters. The parliamentary committee for communications is floating a proposal to reduce the current rates by over 50% as an initial step, and then introduce an annual cut each year until 2012. This would suggest that earlier legal questions over the powers of the regulator to enforce an interconnection fee cut have been conclusively dealt with.
