Competition Heats Up In Long-Distance Telephony

Multi-service operator Telmex Colombia launched international long-distance (ILD) and domestic long-distance (DLD) services in Colombia in the first weekend of December. The launch makes the operator the first to offer all services across a single platform in the country. Telmex has aggressively expanded in the Colombian telecoms market, acquiring five pay-TV operators between H206 and H107, and is now the largest operator in the pay-TV market, according to statistics from broadcasting regulator CNTV.
