Brazilian telecoms regulator Anatel has granted permission to long-distance operator Embratel and Transit Telecom to provide fixed-wireless services in the 1900MHz band. The two operators offer fixed-voice services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Brazil and hope to expand their existing operations by using frequencies in the 1900MHz band, after Anatel authorised the use of this band to provide fixed-wireless services without the need for a separate licence. The companies expect to reach 102 municipalities across Brazil with their fixed-wireless broadband services.
