KDDI Witnesses Slump In Handset Sales

KDDI, Japan's second-ranked mobile operator, has expressed concern that sales of its mobile handset unit have fallen by up to 30% this summer. The operator also announced it expected sales to fall further in the coming winter months by 20%. The downward impact on mobile handsets sales has resulted from the implementation of a new sales model by all three operators, NTT DoCoMo, KDDI and Softbank Mobile, as they face a heavily saturated mobile market.
