Romanian incumbent RomTelecom is to pursue a strategy focused on broadband services, according to the company's CEO, Yorgos Ioannidis. The executive cited the slowdown in the traditional fixed-line sector as the reason for the new company focus. While fixed-line services remain the largest proportion of the company's revenues, broadband services have been the driver of growth for the operator. The company cannot afford to neglect its fixed-line customers given that these make up around 3mn subscribers compared with 505,000 broadband subscribers.
