Thailand's telecoms service provider, TT&T, has awarded a WiMAX network contract to US-based Cisco Systems. The announcement follows the award of a WiMAX licence to TT&T as part of the pilot Tele-Centre for Rural Area Education and Development project. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will be responsible for deploying its network at the Mae Fah Luang University, located in Chiang Rai province, north Thailand. Deployment is expected to be completed by September 2008.
