Barbados' second largest mobile operator, Digicel, has launched an unlimited mobile data tariff for its postpaid subscribers. The operator will offer a flat rate of BBD34.99 a month (US$17.54) for all data usage over a GPRS or EDGE connection. Digicel is the only competitor to fixed-line incumbent Cable & Wireless' (C&W) bmobile, which has a slightly larger share of the market. Digicel's GPRS connection allows a download speed of 53.6Kbps to subscribers on a range of handsets. The company upgraded its network to EDGE in July 2008.
