Brazilian operator Oi is hoping to boost subscriptions to its broadband and mobile operations as it faces a continued decline in fixed-line services. The company is targeting 21mn mobile subscribers by the end of 2008, a 31.3% year-on-year increase, while it hopes to increase broadband subscriptions by 500,000 to reach 2mn. The company acquired regional operator AmazĂ´nia Celular in April 2008, increasing its subscriber base by 1.47mn. Oi's projections do not include its merger with Brasil Telecom, which is awaiting regulatory approval and a change in the telecoms law.
