MTN Nigeria, the country's leading mobile service provider, has launched fixed-line services over a fibre-optic network in the city of Ibadan, Oyo state, according to local press reports. Its fixed-line service will be provided as part of its MTN HyConnect tariff, bundled with internet access at broadband speeds of between 64Kbps and 2Mbps. Features of the service include peerless call completion rates, call hunting, call conferencing, call forwarding, caller line identification, call waiting and fax connectivity. The cost of voice calls has been set at NGN5 for intra network calls.
