Sweden-based Tele2 AB has released its financial and operating results for the second quarter of 2008. On an annualised basis, the company reported a 22% increase in the number of mobile phone customers served in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), from 11.086mn in Q207 to 13.530mn in Q208. The number of fixed broadband customers grew by approximately 15% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 39,000, but the number of fixed telephony customers fell by 23.5% to 26,000. The main difference between 2007 and 2008 was the elimination of results from Tele2 Poland; that company was sold to rival Netia in June 2008.
