France Telecom has announced the launch of its mobile and internet services in Niger under the Orange brand. The capital Niamey, as well as four other cities, Zinder, Maradi, Birni-N'Konni and Tahoua, will receive Orange Niger's services initially, before being rolled out to other parts of the country. The operator was awarded a GSM licence in November 2007, after paying EUR48mn (US$75.87mn).
