Incumbent Romanian fixed-line operator RomTelecom has said that it had signed up 500,000 ADSL customers by mid-June 2008, maintaining the rapid rate of growth seen in 2007. The company said that its share of the market for fixed broadband services had climbed from 7% at the end of 2006 to 20% by Q407 and stood at approximately 24% in mid-June 2008. RomTelecom is now planning to offer IPTV-based video services to its broadband customers, alongside a new range of VoIP-based telephony services.
