Wireless broadband solutions provider Alvarion has been contracted by Lithuanian cable-based multiplay operator Balticum TV to deploy the first IEEE 802.16e-standard WiMAX networks in the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Alvarion is supplying its BreezeMAX solution in an initial deployment in Lithuania, where Balticum TV's residential and business customers are accessing basic services. The value of Alvarion's contract has not been disclosed.
