Etisalat Joins Interest For Tata Teleservices

The UAE's Etisalat has joined the race to acquire an estimated 10% stake valued at around US$1bn in Tata Teleservices. The Middle East operator is not alone in voicing its interest, however, with Mexico's largest operator Telcel, Russian operator Altimo and buyout fund Apax Partners also in the running for the stake. According to the Economic Times, all operators are involved in preliminary stage talks although sources say that Etisalat is likely to emerge as the top bidder.
