China's Huawei Technologies has installed a 2,700km-long optical backbone network for Hungarian incumbent telecoms operator, Magyar Telekom. Based on Huawei's Next Generation-Wavelength Division Multiplexing (NG-WDM) platform, the nationwide network will enable Magyar Telekom to migrate from providing traditional voice-centric services through its existing DWDM system to providing next-generation high-bandwidth data-orientated services to its customers.
