South Korean electronics manufacturer LG Electronics has reported its second highest profit for four years in its Q108 results. The operator saw its mobile handset division perform particularly well, with a 54.4% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in handset shipments. The strong performance of the company means that it is in position to overtake Sony Ericsson as the fourth-ranked mobile vendor worldwide - and could potentially move into third place, replacing struggling US manufacturer Motorola, in 2008.
