Etihad Atheeb Telecommunications Company, one of Saudi Arabia's new fixed-line licensees, has announced contracts worth US$333mn with three key infrastructure and IT suppliers covering the first phase of the build-out of its new network. According to Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), a founding investor in the new operator, further substantial investments are to be announced over the next five years, focusing particularly on the use of wireless broadband technology.
