In a major blow for Turkey's mobile operators, the national telecoms regulator has postponed the tender for four 3G licences. The tender was launched earlier this year, with the bidding deadline set for May 24. Results were expected to be announced soon after, opening up the possibility of commercial services becoming available before the end of the year. However, the Communications Ministry has now indicated that the official tender will not take place until September 7. Ministry officials have given no reason for the delay, but it is likely that it is a result of Turkey's parliamentary elections, which have
