Less than one month after winning a 3G licence, Nigerian operator Globacom has said that it is ready to launch commercial services. The operator, Nigeria's second largest mobile service provider, said that it is waiting for clearance from the national regulator, the NCC, before starting 3G operations. Globacom sees no reason for opposition to its commercial rollout, given that it has paid the remainder of its US$150mn licence fee to the NCC. An initial deposit of US$15mn was required from operators at the time of bidding.
