As predicted by BMI earlier this year, Turkey's Telecommunications Board has launched a tender for four 3G licences. The deadline for bids is May 24. Initial offers for the four licences, which will range in price from EUR140mn to EUR252mn, will be submitted in sealed bids, with subsequent bids taking place in a verbal auction. According to earlier reports, a minimum of 25% population coverage will be required within three years, rising to 50% after five years.
