Pan-Caribbean mobile operator Digicel's chairman and founder Denis O'Brien has consolidated his ownership in the operator, raising his stake from 78% to 100%, following a US$1.4bn bond issue. The popularity of the issue was illustrated by a five-fold oversubscription, with 65% of investors coming from North America, followed by 30% from Europe and 3% from Asia-Pacific. Its CEO Colm Delves stated that this was also a reflection of the strong 'belief and confidence in (its) overall strategy' as it became one of the largest high yields in the Latin America and Caribbean regions.
