BMI 's latest business environment rankings for the Middle East and Africa have remained comparatively unchanged from our previous quarter's assessment. The region is home to one of the world's greatest oil producing areas, and on the back of strong pricing as experienced in 2006, long-term economic growth and developments should remain robust. This is expected to occur despite industry speculation of a slowdown in oil prices over 2007, and has led us to be optimistic that economic risk will largely remain limited. The exception here is Nigeria, with the country's oil sector suffering from a high degree of security risk. This is largely as a result of increased poverty in the country, which has led to attacks on pipelines being common place, as are guerrilla-led explosions.
