Chinese telecoms equipment vendor, Huawei Technologies has landed its largest-ever Latin American order. The contract was awarded by Venezuelan incumbent CANTV, which paid US$50mn for the transition of its outdated analogue network to an IP-based next-generation network (NGN). The vendor will be entrusted with helping the operator continue to secure its top position as the leading fixed-line provider. However, the contract is also tells us about Venezuela's existing market conditions.
