Understanding how the dynamics of South Africa's Mobile Number Portability (MNP) system will affect the overall make-up of the telecoms market is a difficult game to predict. Although the introduction of MNP in July this year will shift the structure of the market, it is not known how this will pan out, and whether the market could see an overriding move towards one operator in particular. However, according to a survey carried out by South African-based company Synovate SubSaharan Africa, the initial impact of the system is likely to see around 21% of South Africa's 30.72mn mobile users switch service
