Mexico's América Móvil is considering entering the Canadian mobile market, according to Chairman Carlos Slim. The telecommunications magnate told Reuters that he 'would love to' move into the Canadian market, because 'penetration is very low and there is significant range for growth'. Canada has a mobile penetration rate of around 55%, expected to reach 66% by 2008. These are very similar to the figures for Mexico, where América Móvil controls 76% of the mobile market through its subsidiary TelCel.
