Tecom Investments (TECOM) and the Dubai Investment Group (DIG), has won the tender to acquire a 60% controlling stake in the Maltese telecom operator Maltacom. TECOM, which is owned by the UAE's second national mobile operator Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company (EITC) submitted a final bid of EUR220mn. TECOM chief executive Ahmad bin Byat said: "It has provided us with an ideal opportunity to become the focal point for the expansion of the ICT sector in the Mediterranean region."
