State-owned telecom operator Omantel has won a OMR12.5mn transmission network infrastructure contract from Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), which will see the petroleum company's strategic sites linked through a series of fibre optic cables, synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) equipment and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems. The fibre optic cable will transmit numerous data, including video and audio.
