With the deadline for bidding on Egypt's third mobile licence just around the corner, on 17 April 2006, several key international operators are lining up to fight it out for a foothold in Egypt's fast growing telecoms market. Indeed, BMI forecasts that Egypt's mobile market will grow by an average 35% y-o-y over the next five years so that by the end of 2010 there will be 35mn cellular subscribers, representing a penetration rate of 43%.
