BMI expects the introduction of mandatory SIM registration and Mobile Number Portability (MNP) to have significant impact on market dynamics in Ghana's mobile market. According to market data relating to the end of June 2011 published by the National Communications Authority (NCA), some operators registered considerable subscriber losses during Q111 and Q211. Meanwhile, the telecoms regulator revealed that about 1,000 mobile phone users ported their numbers to a different network within the first three days of the introduction of MNP on July 7 2011.
