Netgear, the US-based provider of consumer and enterprise-class networking solutions, has agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of the Customer Networking Solutions (CNS) division of rival Westell Technologies. Netgear will pay US$33.5mn in cash for the business, which focuses on the provision of high-speed networking solutions used in IPTV, internet access and fixed-mobile convergence service offerings. BMI believes the acquisition will consolidate Netgear's market-leading position in the US home gateway solutions sector while bolstering its reach and appeal overseas.
