Merger The Answer To Japan's Contracting Handset Market

Japanese companies NEC, Casio and Hitachi will merge their respective mobile handset units to create a single company, NEC Casio Mobile Communications. The joint venture (JV), which is scheduled for commercial launch in April 2010, will provide products from the integrated business units between NEC's Mobile Terminal Operations Unit and Casio Hitachi Mobile Communications (CHMC), the JV formed between Casio and Hitachi in 2004. In addition, NEC Casio Mobile Communications will also merge the advanced technologies and product development experiences of the three companies.
