Huawei Continues South American Assault With NII 3G Contracts

Huawei Technologies has secured contracts to supply 3G infrastructure to Latin American mobile operator NII Holdings. The deals will see the Chinese vendor install next generation platforms to NII's Nextel-branded operations in Brazil and Mexico and follow on from earlier contracts to supply 3G networks to Nextel Chile and Nextel Peru. Not only do these contracts underscore Huawei's growing influence as a key solutions provider in Latin America, but they also position it favourably for future 3G and mobile broadband deployments in the region.
