3 Ireland Launches Ad-Funded VOD Service

According to the Irish Times, mobile operator 3 Ireland has launched a 'free' Video-On-Demand (VOD) service for its mobile subscribers, funding it solely through advertising. The service will be available to both prepaid and postpaid subscribers and will offer a range of videos and games. Ten second adverts will be placed at the beginning and end of each content stream. The service will be managed by British-managed services firm Gorillabox. Discount hotel booking service 1800 Hotels has signed up as an advertiser.
