MWEB, one of South Africa's leading alternative broadband suppliers, has mounted an aggressive marketing campaign to promote its new cut-price ADSL service. The campaign focuses on MWEB's new uncapped broadband offerings, which are being offered at low prices for the market. Other alternative operators have begun to follow suit. South Africa has notoriously bad broadband services, with high prices often combined with very poor service performance. There is thus potential for a real price war that could see a significant fall in average prices.
