Thai Operators Stall On 3G Developments
October 2008 | Company Finance AlertTT&T, Thailand's largest provincial fixed-line operator, has suspended its 3G investment plans following mobile operators AIS and DTAC, which earlier in the month cut back on their respective 3G expenditure plans. Aside from the economic downturn, making borrowing difficult for high-level investments, TT&T filed to undergo a debt restructuring plan in April this year, thereby leading to its current decision. The operator announced it had reduced its planned investment to THB800mn from THB2bn, while competitor AIS slashed its 3G plans by 300% to THB5bn (150mn) and DTAC delayed 3G commercial launch from Q109 to Q309.
