VimpelCom Acquisition In Doubt As Telenor Makes Objection Official

Telenor has announced that it has formally told VimpelCom that it does not believe the proposed acquisition of Weather Investments is in the best interests of VimpelCom shareholders and will not support the transaction. BMI considers VimpelCom's efforts to diversify beyond the plateauing Russian market as a positive, however we are concerned about a number of unresolved issues relating to the acquisition of Weather.
