Vodafone Hit By US$3.4bn Charges In India

Vodafone Group reported strong growth for the financial year ended March 31 2010, with emerging markets central to that success story, as BMI reported yesterday. However, its results would have been even better had it not been forced to record a GBP2.3bn (US$3.4bn) impairment charge on its operations in India. While BMI had been expecting Vodafone to report weaker results for India, considering the tougher operating environment, we remain fairly optimistic about its future growth potential.
