Reliance Joins India's Mobile Apps Fray

Reliance Communications, India's second largest mobile network operator in terms of subscriber numbers, has entered into a strategic partnership with US-based mobile application portal GetJar. The relationship will enable Reliance to offer its rapidly growing subscriber base more than 65,000 free mobile applications (apps) via Reliance's value-added services (VAS) platform, R-World. Significantly, BMI believes the agreement will help Reliance keep pace with its rivals, many of whom are now offering apps stores of their own.
