Palapa Ring Comes To Aid Of Indonesian Telecoms Infrastructure

Faced by the news that seven Indonesian telcos are to come together and build a nationwide US$1.5bn fibre-optic network, BMI will look to amend its internet usage and broadband take-up forecasts in due course. The Palapa Ring is set to transform Indonesia's telecoms infrastructure as it improves connectivity throughout the country. The government has given its full support to the project, and little wonder given the impact that the laying of 57,000km of cables could have on the country's internet market with the healthcare, education, agriculture and e-government sectors all eventually benefiting.
