3G Moving Closer

Econet, Zimbabwe's largest mobile network by customer numbers, is to launch 3G services on August 28 2009, reports the Zimbabwe Telegraph. The company has said that it will be targeting only high-end and corporate postpaid subscribers with the service, which will launch first in the capital Harare, with a target of 55,000 subscribers. In a move more likely to benefit Econet's ordinary subscribers, the company has reduced the cost of its starter packs following the removal of duty on mobile phones, according The Zimbabwean.
