February 2007 | Contract NewsThe new service called MiniCall forms part of Vodafone Egypt's plans to raise ARPU levels, which at the end of FY06 reported an increase across blended, postpaid and prepaid, and surpassed figures as reported by market leader Mobinil. Vodafone Egypt saw prepaid ARPU of EGP644, postpaid ARPU of EGP3,479, and blended ARPU of EGP868. The operator's strong prepaid ARPU results were a result of its prepaid subscriber base growth, up by 47% over the year to 8.073mn, which was in part fuelled by postpaid users migrating to prepaid users. In comparison, Mobinil reported that the only increase in its ARPU derived from the postpaid sector, up by 2% y-o-y (and as a result of its greater variety of postpaid tariffs) reaching EGP276. The operator's prepaid and blended ARPUs reported a fall of 10% y-o-y to EGP38 and 18% y-o-y to EGP68 respectively.
