After successfully competing against the world's leading personal computer (PC) manufacturers and setting out on a similar path to global expansion in the tablet computer, games consoles and mobile handsets markets, Chinese consumer electronics giant Lenovo aims to add another key connected device market to its portfolio. The company plans to develop its own internet-enabled TV sets and established a partnership with a leading Chinese IPTV services provider to help it get off to a good start. However, success is far from assured as Lenovo will be competing against a host of top-tier global electronics manufacturers and a growing number of local players.
